Hi there. I’m the father of six amazing kids, all six of whom are on the autism spectrum. (I know, right?)
I’ve called this blog Autism Blues not because we are a depressed family–we’re not. Rather, the title refers to the blue puzzle piece that is the logo for the advocacy group Autism Speaks. Mind you, there are days when blue would be an apt description of the mood around the house. But that’s not our default color.
I hope that through this blog I can shine a light on what it’s like both to live in a large family and to have autism as a major part of all of our lives. I hope that my stories, musings, and observations paint a picture of the challenges we face but also of the fun we have together.
Please note that this is a work in progress. If you don’t like what you see, stick around for a while. I promise it’ll get better as I learn what I’m doing!
Leo, may I share your blog with a friend from church? I have already found your thoughts and experiences so enlightening and encouraging. My friend has a 5-year-old son with Autism, and I think she would also find your blog to be helpful. I didn’t want to share it with her until I had your permission, though.

Kathy: By all means, share this blog with anyone you want. I set it up to be public in the hopes that other people might stumble upon it anyway. So go for it! And Happy, Happy Easter!
I’m your son and you never told me you had a website! Hahahaha
There’s a lot about me you don’t know. hahahaha
